Montana Energy Efficiency Rebate Programs
There currently are a number of rebate programs in place in Montana that provide homeowners and business owners with financial incentives to install energy efficiency measures. Current programs include the following. For more information, visit dsireusa.org.
NorthWestern Energy
Home Lighting RebateIf you buy ENERGY STAR compact fluorescent lights (CFLs) or hard-wired CFL fixtures, you may be eligible to receive a rebate from NorthWestern Energy's E+ Home Lighting Rebate Program.
Programmable Thermostat RebateIf you purchase an ENERGY STAR programmable thermostat and install it in your home, you may be eligible for a $30 rebate.
Efficient Water Measures RebatesIf you install measures that save water and the energy used to heat it, you may qualify for rebates.
Insulation RebateIf you improve the insulation levels in your home, you may be eligible for a rebate.
High Efficiency Natural Gas Equipment RebatesIf you buy high efficiency equipment when you replace your furnace, boiler, or water heating equipment, you may be eligible for a rebate through the E+ Natural Gas Savings Rebate Program. Rebates are also available for boiler controls and natural gas convection ovens.
Improvements to Existing Natural Gas Equipment RebateIf you make qualifying improvements to your existing natural gas furnace or boiler, you may be eligible for a rebate through the E+ Natural Gas Savings Rebate Program.
Switch from Electric to Natural Gas RebatesIf you switch your electric heat or water heat to regulated natural gas, you may be eligible for a rebate under our E+ Residential Electric Savings Program.
Commercial Lighting RebateThe E+ Commercial Lighting Rebate Program has long been a favorite of commercial customers and trade allies since it offers a prescriptive rebate for the removal of old, less efficient lighting products which are replaced with high efficiency technologies.
Premium Efficiency Motor RebateBuying premium efficiency motors is more affordable through the E+ Motor Rebate program.
Motor RewindHelp reduce your electricity costs and save money when repairing electric motors. NorthWestern Energy's E+ Motor Rewind Rebate program makes it more affordable to rewind existing motors to maintain existing efficiency standards.
Business Partners ProgramThe E+ Business Partners Program offers funding for local energy conservation and load management projects in new and retrofit applications including commercial, institutional, industrial, agricultural, and multi-family residential facilities/systems in Montana. Beginning in 2009, natural gas projects are eligible for participation.
Irrigator ProgramThe E+ Irrigator Program helps irrigators become more energy-efficient through technical assistance and financial incentives.
Flathead Electric
Northwest Energy-Efficient Manufactured Home Incentive ProgramEffective January 1, 2003, Flathead Electric Cooperative will offers rebates for both homeowners ($750) and sales representatives ($150) for new electrically heated Northwest Energy Efficient Manufactured (NEEM) homes sited in the utility's service territory.
Residential Energy Efficiency RebatesA number of incentives are available for residential customers to increase the energy efficiency of their homes through a variety of equipment rebates. Customers who have a pre-approved contractor install a new 
energy efficient air source heat pump with an HSPF of 8.5 and a SEER of 14 can receive a $1,000 rebate. Geothermal heat pumps are eligible for a $3,000 rebate. Rebates are also provided by Flathead Electric for qualifying Energy Star appliances and energy efficient water heaters. All rebates are subject to a post-installation inspection performed by Flathead Electric to ensure proper installation of qualifying equipment.
When certain fixtures and/or bulbs are replaced with more efficient ones, customers may be eligible for a rebate that will help to offset the cost of the change-out.
Yellowstone Valley Electric Cooperative
Add-on Heat Pump RebateYVEC offers a rebate of $200.00 per ton, up to a maximum of $800.00.
Geothermal Heat Pump RebatesFor residential installations, rebates of $200.00 per ton (maximum $1,000) are available.
Water Heater RebatesYVEC will rebate $150 for the purchase of a new electric water heater which has either been installed in a newly constructed residence or which has replaced a gas or propane water heater within an existing residence. When a new electric water heater has been purchased to replace an electric water heater in an existing residence, a $100 rebate will be given.
ENERGY STAR Appliance RebatesYVEC is offering rebates on qualifying energy efficient ENERGY STAR-rated dishwashers, refrigerators, and washing machines.
